How buying a gun in Cheyenne works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Wyoming law allows.
Wyoming has no purchase permit, no registration and no waiting period. A dealer sale requires ATF Form 4473 and a federal NICS background check at the FFL, with federal minimum ages of 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns from a dealer. Bring a valid photo ID that shows your current address. Wyoming does not license gun owners, and state law limits local gun rules. Ammunition, optics and parts can ship to your home address anywhere in the state.
Dealers in these communities all work for Cheyenne-area buyers:

Carrying a gun in Laramie County
Wyoming allows concealed carry without a permit for adults 21 and older who may legally possess a firearm, and since July 2021 that applies to non-residents as well. The optional Wyoming concealed firearm permit is issued through the Attorney General's Division of Criminal Investigation. You complete the DCI application, then submit it with fingerprints at the sheriff's office in your county of residence. The permit helps with reciprocity in other states. Some locations remain restricted, so read posted rules.
Hunting near Cheyenne
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department sets deer and antelope seasons by hunt area, and each area has its own opening day, license type and quota. Most general and limited-quota rifle seasons fall in October and November, with archery seasons earlier in the fall. Resident general deer licenses are sold over the counter, while many areas and all non-resident licenses require a draw. Check the current WGFD regulations for your hunt area and license type before you plan a trip.
Cheyenne falls in the Game and Fish Laramie Region, with antelope and mule deer on the plains and deer and elk in the Laramie Range to the west; seasons are set by hunt area.
Wyoming's permitless carry and no purchase permit keep buying simple, and the wind and dust here mean pistols get detail stripped often.
